Putting It All Together: An Innovative Approach to Increasing Iowa's Conservation Infrastructure

The goal of this project is to positively change the skill sets and attitudes of professional agronomists, farmers and agricultural students to accelerate the adoption of agricultural systems that build soil health and reduce nutrient losses.

Objectives include:

  1. Develop, design, and utilize a Conservation Systems Best Practices Manual that will articulate unified messages on conservation practices that improve water quality and soil health.
  2. Provide effective training regarding selected conservation practice implementation and management through field days, workshops, cover crop boot camps, and Watershed Academies.
  3. Create and deploy watershed-based Conservation Case Study Training Kits.
  4. Promote the Conservation Systems Best Practices Manual and Conservation Case Study Training Kits through webinars, articles, e-news, blog, social media and print publications.

Whole Farm Conservation Best Practices Manual is now available to download for FREE from the Iowa State University Extension Store!
